The White Rabbit of Inaba
■ Hook
A rabbit crossed the sea.
Not by strength—
but by a choice
it would soon regret
■ Story
This is a story about consequence…
and redemption.
Long ago,
a rabbit wanted to reach
another island.
But instead of finding a safe way,
it chose to deceive.
It tricked a group of sharks,
telling them to line up
so it could count them.
Then,
it jumped across their backs
to reach the shore.
Just before escaping,
the rabbit revealed the truth.
The sharks were furious.
They attacked it—
tearing off its fur
and leaving it in pain.
The rabbit had been punished
for its deception.
Suffering,
it asked others for help.
But the first advice it received
only made things worse.
“Wash in the sea,” they said.
“Let the wind dry you.”
Its pain grew stronger.
Then, one man arrived.
大国主命(Ookuninushinomikoto)
He saw what had happened.
And he understood.
“You have already suffered,” he said.
“Now, heal.”
He told the rabbit
to wash in fresh water
and rest on soft grass.
The rabbit followed his words.
And this time…
it began to recover.
